Sessions focus on the mechanical/physical aspects of the various positions, as well as how to cultivate a strong mental approach and vision. Utilizing each player’s physical strengths, we instill basic fundamentals while developing and enhancing proper technique. Lessons target a specific area of concentration or a combination.
Instruction is available on an individual or group basis for:
Hitting
Participants learn to hit to all fields, with a specific focus on
hitting to opposite field. Drills and exercises focus on balance, as
well as head control and hand-eye coordination. To help each player
find the right stance, we concentrate on maximizing hand and hip
speed. Sessions will also address players’ strengths and weaknesses;
waiting for “your pitch;” assessing pitch counts and other
variables; and understanding pitcher dynamics.
Pitching
Drills will focus on throwing mechanics and how to ensure
consistency, balance, body control, arm speed, release point, and
follow-through. Participants will also learn the fundamentals of a
strong pitcher’s mind, emphasizing control and selection (varying
with age).
Catching
Instruction concentrates on the technical points of receiving,
blocking, and throwing accurately with a quick release. Participants
will learn varying strategies relating to situations, batters, and
runners.
Defensive Positions
Players learn game basics and situational defense with respect to
each infield and outfield position. Instruction will also focus on
specific fielding and throwing techniques.
